Dr. Vilina Patra is a young and talented vocalist of the Mewati Gharana, known for her soulful renditions and refined taalim. Rooted in the tradition of Hindustani classical music, she has been steadily carving her path through years of dedicated training, devotion , and heartfelt expression.

Her musical repertoire spans Khayal gayan , devotional, and semi-classical forms, reflecting both versatility and depth. With a voice that carries clarity, emotion, and control, Vilina’s performances resonate with sincerity and spiritual grace.

Taalim & Gurus

Vilina's formal training began at a very tender age under the guidance of Shri Shyama Prasad Niyogi of the Vishnupur Gharana, where she laid the groundwork in classical music. This early foundation instilled in her the discipline and structure essential to a classical musician.

She then continued her musical journey with Dr. Ram Shankar Singh, an esteemed guru of the RamRang Parampara, whose guidance brought depth and sensitivity to her raga exploration and understanding.

Currently, Vilina is under the tutelage of Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar, an esteemed Maestro of the Mewati Gharana. His profound musicality,divine voice and his mastery has left a deep and lasting influence on Vilina's musical journey. His stage presence and artistic brilliance continue to inspire her pursuit of perfection in every note and it has created a strong impact on Vilina’s music and her approach to performance.

Her talim reflects a confluence of diverse styles, spiritual introspection, and a continuous striving for musical truth.

Academic Excellence & Professional Recognition

Dr. Vilina Patra brings together deep-rooted academic scholarship and rich performance experience in the realm of Hindustani classical music. Her journey reflects a harmonious blend of disciplined study, musical sensitivity, and unwavering devotion to the art form.

She holds a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in subject "An Analytical Study of Riyaz Techniques in Khayal Gayaki" from S.N.D.T. Women’s University, Pune, under the guidance of Dr. Pournima Dhumale. Her doctoral research is a significant contribution to the pedagogical understanding of vocal training in classical music.
A Gold Medalist in both Master’s and Bachelor’s in Music from the prestigious Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Dr. Patra secured the highest marks in both theory and practical—demonstrating academic excellence and exceptional musical ability.
She is a Graded Artist of All India Radio (AIR), Pune in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music.
Her musical journey includes the recording of Hindi and Marathi devotional compositions for esteemed composers, further reflecting her versatility across classical and semi-classical genres.
She has performed across India, in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, Varanasi, Jaipur, Goa, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Ahmednagar, and Aurangabad, among others.
On the international front, she was featured in a digital concert series by the CheerUp Foundation, California (USA), connecting global audiences to Indian classical music.
Dr. Patra has also given vocal accompaniment to her Guru, Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar Ji, at some of the most prestigious classical music festivals in the country, including:
